Proud to Call Irvine Home

Ron Scolesdang has proudly called Irvine home for over 10 years. His wife, April, has lived in the city for more than 20 years. Their story began one early morning when April walked into Ron's gym at 6 AM. After a workout and a breakfast together, their connection blossomed into a marriage. Now, they are a vibrant family with a 5-year-old son, Renzo, and a beloved dog.

As a family, they embrace an active lifestyle and enjoy spending time together, whether it's on a run with Renzo in a jogger and the dog on a leash, or simply enjoying the outdoors. Their shared love for health and fitness is a cornerstone of their family life.

Ron, who is Vietnamese, and April, who is Filipino, bring a rich cultural heritage to Irvine. Their warmth and love for hugging may be less common in the area, but it's a reflection of their close-knit family values.

A Champion in and Out of the Ring

Ron’s journey is a testament to hard work, resilience, and a commitment to excellence. As a professional Muay Thai fighter, Ron has reached the pinnacle of his sport, earning the title of Muay Thai World Champion after 20 years of training. His experiences in the ring have taught him the value of discipline, strategic thinking, and perseverance—qualities that he now brings to his civic leadership.

He is the driving force behind several companies, including CryoSpot, Lace N Loop, KO Towing, and ÅŒka Kickboxing Club. These ventures reflect Ron’s commitment to innovation and sustainable growth, values he intends to apply to Irvine's economic development.

A Heart for the Community

Beyond his athletic and business achievements, Ron is deeply committed to giving back to the community. He has served his community over the past 20 years by providing guidance to his peers, providing support, and resources through his martial arts background and network. One of his most impactful initiatives is the Seniors Fight Back program, a non-profit organization he founded to empower and protect senior citizens which won nonprofit of the year in 2022. This initiative was born out of a response to the increasing violence and discrimination against elderly individuals, particularly within the Asian American community in Irvine. Leveraging his martial arts experience, Ron brought free self-defense classes and safety education to seniors, equipping them with the skills and confidence they need to protect themselves. The program also fosters a sense of community and support among participants, helping to reduce the isolation that many seniors experience to create a safer Irvine community
